Here are the highlights of our trip. More to come when I get them scrapbooked into an album.
Day 1: Arrived and drove to Orléans. I was still recovering from a night of vomiting and diarrhea and then a 5-hour plane ride all with no sleep (Maya had the yuckies the night previous). So I took a nap while Dave and the children played along the banks of the Loire River, where we stayed at Parc du Orléans Hotel.
Day 2: Visited the house and museum of Joan of Arc.
Visited Chambord.
Stayed the next 3 nights at Château de la Rue near Blois. This hotel was the one the groom booked for us, and wouldn't have been our first choice. It was a bed and breakfast decked out in Victorian/Renissance style, so the kids couldn't touch anything, there was no tv, it was dirty, and the "breakfast" was less than desirable. If we hadn't already been booked we would have bailed, but we suffered through 3 nights with our clawfooted-no-shower-wobbly tub.
Day 3: Visited Chenonceau.
Played in the hotel pool. Attended a BBQ for the bride and groom in Suévres.
Day 4:
Visited Cheverny.
Attended the wedding of Dave's friend, Christoffe, at this 12th century church:
Day 5: Went to church in Orléans. Drove up to Versailles and visited the palace. Stayed the night in Versailles at the Holiday Inn (our first hotel of the trip that had a/c).
Day 6: Flew home exhausted.

Sounds like fun, we took our first trip with all 3 kids and just us. We didn't get any sleep the night before we flew and our flight was way too early in the morning and Isabel had been sleeping so bad because of her teeth all week, so we started the trip exhausted. We were in Copenhagen with 2 strollers and Isabel on me. Let's just say I'm glad we did it, but desperately needed a vacation from our vacation. That sucks to start off your trip being sick, not fun.
