Summer Checklists

I am so ready for summer vacation!  Bring on a less regulated schedule and more pool time.

In order to minimize the phrase, "I'm bored," I've devised a checklist system that the kids can keep track of the goals they've set for themselves this summer.

Today is the first day of our summer vacation, it's not yet 10am, and I've heard, "Mom, can I use the iPad?"   The ensuing conversation prompted me to make this checklist:

And just because I'm a little bit obsessive, I made a reading checklist too.

Feel free to download any of the files to help with your summer fun!

Legoland 6x8 Mini Travel Album | part iv | Waterpark

This is the last section of my Legoland album.  To see the other sections follow these links:
Part i - Legoland Hotel
Part ii - Legoland Kingdoms, Adventure, City, and Technic
Part iii - Heartlake City, Pirates Cove, Miniland, Chima, and Star Wars

WATERPARK

I cannot say enough good things about this waterpark.  I think it is probably my favorite one of all.  I loved it so much because there was so much more to do than sit in the sun or swim.

Pinkfresh Studio's Life Noted Puffy Yellow Alpha and the fun embossed Lego paper is from Paper Wizard's Block Party Collection.  Isn't the "Splash!" card cute?  It was a postcard mailer I got from Hanna Andersson and I loved it so much I cut it to fit.

I loved the floating bricks that were all around the Wave Pool and the Lazy River.  Maya successfully built her own raft.

Pinkfresh Studio's Life Noted Puffy Yellow Alpha, templates are from Paislee Press, and the Journal card is from Pixie Sprite. The Lego boat sticker was part of my Stationary collection that I've used throughout this album that I bought in the park.

Templates are from Paislee Press, and the Lego sticker is from the stationary set.

Here's a closeup of the Lego camera that I stuck to the page with a glue dot.  I loved giving this album dimension with Legos.

This photo was too cute to leave out, but it didn't really belong in any "land." I decided to use it as the last page to finish out the album.

I hope you enjoyed my Legoland 6x8 Mini Travel Album! Thanks for looking!

April 2016 Digital Layouts

I went with a super minimalist design for the NASA page.  It only took me about 15 minutes.

Legoland 6x8 Mini Travel Album | part iii | Heartlake City, Pirates Cove, Miniland, Chima, and Star Wars

HEARTLAKE CITY

I thought Heartlake City was so fun and well done.  I wish there were more rides, though.
The purple Lego paper is from Scrapbook Customs Building Blocks collection, the alpha is  Pinkfresh Studio's Life Noted Puffy Yellow Alpha and I made the journaling card from an image of Heartlake City from the internet.  I added fun Lego charm embellishments from my daughter's extra pieces.
But, there were tons of photo opportunities.  Maya was loving each character.

The only ride there is Mia's Riding Adventure.  The kids rode it several times in a row.  We were so happy we picked an off day for our vacation (I guess our Spring Break is early?)
Lots of extra pieces glued to this page with glue dots.  The horse sticker came from a Lego Friends Activity Book.

PIRATES COVE

We stopped and sat to watch the waterskiing show at Pirates Cove.  They make it look so easy!  Afterward we had a snack at Granny's Apple Fries.  Super yummy, we got ours à la mode!
Pinkfresh Studio's Life Noted Puffy Yellow Alpha, and both templates are from Paislee Press.
I wanted to include the minifigures the kids made to take home, but they are too bulky to put in the album.  I decided to just photograph them and include them on this insert.  They look very lifelike!
  Template is from Paislee Press.

CHIMA

Chima was a great place to cool off with lots of water features.  We were glad we hit it at the very end of the day!
Pinkfresh Studio's Life Noted Puffy Yellow Alpha , Chima Journal card from Pixie Sprite.

The filler card is Sahlin Studios and the sticker is Lego Chima Factivity book.

MINILAND

I had lots of photos to include from miniland, but didn't want it to drag on for pages.  I was able to get them all in one spread by using Simple Stories Photo Flips that just stick to the page.
Tabs are from Post-It
Here is a look at them with them all open.

STAR WARS

I decided to divide all the Star Wars Miniland photos into their movie group.  I pulled up the movie logo off the web to make the titles uniform.
Template is from Paislee Press.

The Clone Wars happened chronologically between Episodes ii and iii.  I decided to put a little insert in between the pages to document it.
Templates are from Paislee Press.

That finishes off the Legoland portion of the album!

Legoland 6x8 Mini Travel Album | part ii | Kingdoms, Adventure, City, and Technic

Part i - Legoland Hotel
Part ii - Legoland Kingdoms, Adventure, City, and Technic
Part iii - Heartlake City, Pirates Cove, Miniland, Chima, and Star Wars
Part iv - Legoland Waterpark

THE BEGINNING

We didn't spend much time in The Beginning.  We just grabbed our map and attacked our game plan.  I'm looking for some tabs to adhere to the map to add it to the binder, but haven't found any yet.
Pinkfresh Studio's Life Noted Puffy Yellow Alpha and sticker from DK Ultimate Lego Minifigure sticker book.
I thought it would be fun to create a bullet list of Lego studs.  They give fun dimension.

KINGDOMS

Pinkfresh Studio's Life Noted Puffy Yellow Alpha , Kingdoms Journal card from Pixie Sprite, and wordart from Sahlin Studios Project Mouse, and sticker from DK Ultimate Lego Minifigure sticker book
I photocopied the Lego paper I had from my stationary kit I bought in the park to turn it gray.

ADVENTURE

It's hard to see in this photo, but I added a gold stud to the scorpion sticker to give it dimension.

LEGO CITY

I kept and included the Driver's License that they gave the kids for their driving school.

LEGO TECHNIC

Pinkfresh Studio's Life Noted Puffy Yellow Alpha, and Journal card from Pixie Sprite

Instead of another Lego brick glued to the page, I added a tire here for fun.  Love the little details.

And on this page I added a small Lego propeller.
Templates from Paislee Press

We stopped for lunch at Lakeside Sandwich Co. in the Technic area.  It is a healthy lunch option, and the only place in the park that serves a kids meal in these fun Lego boxes that they got to bring home.

Legoland 6x8 Mini Travel Album | part i | Legoland Hotel

I am currently working on our Spring Break 2016 pictures from Florida, and have decided to make a separate mini album for my Legoland pictures.

I'm using a Simple Stories 6x8 album.  The chipboard stickers are from Hobby Lobby Paper Studios, and I picked up the Lego stickers from a stationary kit from the Big Shop at Legoland, Florida.  They were on clearance in the Chima booth, so I don't know their current availability.

TITLE PAGE

I knew that I wanted a see-through Lego cluster for my opening page.  I picked out a few of my son's extra pieces and sewed them into the pocket.  I saved all of my receipts and packaging from the trip, which is what the tag is at the top (from a keychain purchase I think.)

The background Lego paper is from the stationary set I mentioned above, they were originally blank cards that I just cut down to size.

I'm using Pinkfresh Studio's Life Noted Puffy Yellow Alpha throughout the album as titles.

PART i - LEGOLAND HOTEL

I'm opening the album with the hotel details, since we spent the night there before we actually went into the park, so it keeps the photos chronological.

The hotel journaling card is from Sahlin Studio's Project Mouse We're Here collection.  The welcome card is from our check-in packet.

Here's a close up of the back of the see-through Lego pocket.  The star on top is also from Lego Friends extra pieces.

We stayed in Adventure themed room and loved it!  I can't say enough how great this hotel was.  The kids still talk about going back and trying the other themes.  The "our room" journaling card is from Sahlin Studio's Project Mouse We're Here collection.

I saved one of our hotel keys and inserted it into a card is from Sahlin Studio's Project Mouse We're Here collection. I will be adding stickers here and there from the DK Ultimate Lego Minifigure sticker book I got off Amazon.

The room had this fun treasure hunt for the kids.  I was impressed by how much loot they actually got!  Free Legos?! Heck ya!!  I included their little treasure hunt card from the room.

I thought that these yellow Lego studs resembled treasure, so I used them as a bullet list to journal what they got.

The back of the treasure hunt card was blank, so I turned it into a pocket using paper from the stationary kit, and stickers from the sticker book.  I then tucked one of the activity packs they got, and tied it together with string (it originally hung on a lanyard around their necks).

The right side documents the fabulous disco elevator.  It played disco music and had dancing lights each time you rode it.  The kids LOVED this part!  Well done, Legoland Hotel!

I kept a napkin from the Bricks Family Restaurant and tucked it into a pocket.  The Lego journaling card came from Pixie Sprite.

March 2016 Calendar Pages

March was crazy busy.  I took 1,300 photos!  I created 8 double-page digital layouts, a whole album for Legoland, and 3 hybrid pages.  Whew!

March 2016 Digital Layouts

It was a busy March with Easter, Spring Break, Rodeo, Bluebonnets, Symphonies, and Ethen's birthday party. Whew! I decided to make a few full double-page layouts for some of these events.

Sahlin Studios Adventure Collection

I made this page template myself, but used some freebie word art from Ali Edwards.

I made three different layouts to cover our Spring Break vacation:

Modified template by Cathy Zielske
Modified template and Cabana Kit by One Little Bird
Template by Scrapping with Liz, Superhero Elements by Splendid Fiins
