But not mine...my sister's.
I was 18 years old when my sister, Shelly, had her first child. Back then I was pretty much in my own world, and it never occurred to me that new mom's need baby showers. I still feel bad that I didn't throw her one.
Fast forward to 19 years later. She's had 4 kids already, but has always felt like there was another one waiting to come to their family. And he is ready to come in a few more weeks.
All of my sisters and I pitched in this time to throw a baby shower. I could kick myself for not getting a photo of all of us together. But here are a few shots from the party.
We gave it a "little man" theme with bowties.
I made the invitation and decorations and my sisters all made the food. Fair trade, I'd say.
The pom pom are made from tissue paper and the bowties are made from thick crepe paper.
Sharla made chicken salad sandwiches, Niccole made delicious sugar
cookies and cupcakes and the cute water bottles. Shanda made the paper bowties for the cupcakes
with her new Cricut. I made a bowtie pasta salad and mixed a up few
drinks.
Coconut Lime Soda:
2-litre bottle of Sprite or 7-up (p.s. this also rocks in Mountain Dew!)
about 1/2 cup of Torani's Sugar-Free Coconut Syrup (I just kept pouring until everyone gasped:)
2 sliced limes, one to squeeze the juice in and one to slice to throw in
Pineapple Cream Soda:
5 cups pineapple juice
1/4 coconut cream (I used coffee-mate cause I couldn't find the real stuff) you might have to go to an Indian grocer
Seltzer or Sparkling Mineral Water to taste
