Cancun 2014 6x8 Mini Album | part ii | Xcaret

These next few pages are all about the activities we did at Xcaret Park.  For those traveling to Cancun, I highly recommend this place.  It was so full of things to do, and I thought the presentation was excellent.  It is full of all different kinds of animals, so it's like a zoo in that respect.  It also has the ancient Mayan ruins of Polè.

It also has a ton of water activities.  You can snorkel, swim with dolphins, swim in underground tunnels, and snuba dive.  An optional activity that we signed the kids up for was "Adventure Kids," which had them in a pool with sharks and stingrays.  The trainers taught the kids all about the animals, and they got to touch and feel them and then swim around in the water with them.  They snorkeled like champs.  I was so proud of them.

Next we went  swimming in the River Maya.  They have 3 different rivers to choose from, but we opted for this one that had the most sunlight  and was only about half underground.  We loved it!

I had a couple of more photos that I wanted to add to this spread, so I added a tab and glued another Project Life Fuse Sleeve to it.  I tried Fuzing it together, but it never quite gives it a solid enough hold, so I ended up using transparent tape to glue it on.

Here's a look at the page with it open.  Those are mangroves that we are swimming through and a picture of the Maya River from a bridge above.

On our way back to the dressing room after swimming, we caught a show of the Voladores de Papantla.  They climb this pole, play their flute song to the wind and sun, and then "fly" like birds as they fall off backward and dangle from ropes around their ankles.

Then we at dinner and headed over to the night show that showcases Mexican culture through dance and games.  They played the ancient Mesoamerica ball game, some other game with a live fireball they rolled around with sticks, and then each period of Mexican history was displayed through costume and song.  It really was quite fascinating and a bit sad when the Spanish came and took over.  At the end of the performance they played Mexico's national song and everyone shouted "Viva Mexico!"
The gold stickers are from Pink Paislee's Solstice collection and the Cancun PL card is from Scrapbook Customs Tropical Excursions collection.

Cancun 2014 6x8 Mini Album | part i | Chichen Itza

I finally got started on my mini album from our 2014 trip to Cancun, Mexico.  I'll probably be sharing a few pages per post as I get them complete.

I am using Becky Higgins new blue and white striped 6x8 Project Life album that I picked up at Michaels.  I'm mixing up the papers and stickers I am using, but most are from Pink Paislee's Atlas Collection and Becky Higgins Project Life Jade Edition (which is out of print, but the digital version is available.)

As I mention in the album, I purchased a new Olympus Tough TG-850 camera to take on this trip because of it's waterproof, sandproof, crushproof, freezeproof qualities.  It has several filter options, which I was experimenting with all through the trip.  I think now that as I look through the photos, I will just shoot with it mostly in manual mode with no filters.  The exceptions would be underwater shots, which I think it does a great job of, and the selfie mode, which makes your skin quite blotch-free and smooth!  Takes 10 years off instantly!  haha

The transparent rainbow letter stickers are from Amy Tangerine.

The 4x6 transparency here is from Heidi Swapp and I found them at Michaels.  The cork sticker is from Pink Paislee's Atlas collection.  The fonts I'm using throughout the album are Baron Neue and Wisdom Script.

Here's a look at the page with the transparency removed.

The "explore" sticker is from Heidi Swapp.  I put all my stickers on top of the page pocket to make them lay flatter.

For the top 4 photos, I split up a panorama picture I took into 4 parts.  The smaller bottom shot is a panorama I also took with my Olympus TG-850.  I think my iPhone does a better job shooting a smooth panorama, but this camera didn't do too bad either.

December Daily 2015 Week 4

It's always nice to wrap up an album.  Here is a look at the final week of our December.

DEC 20
The kids made the cutest gingerbread houses today.  I got this mini kit from Target.

DEC 21
School is out and Noel gave a little warning today after I took away some of the kids gifts. ;)

Maya and I attended Ballet Houston's performance of the Nutcracker.  This is our 2nd annual year going to see it.  It was magical and fun.  Next year they are re-doing all the stage and costumes, so we are excited to see how it will be different.  I inserted the Playbill program as part of the spread.

DEC 22
This place was truly amazing!  I highly recommend it. http://www.magicalwinterlights.com

Christmas Eve

I printed out the tree picture on vellum, so it shows through to the next page.  I reinforced the holes with washi tape so it won't tear.  Noel brought the kids super cute jammies. We played the game Zarahemla (think Catan) until bedtime.

DEC 25
Christmas Day
Ethen got up around 6am on Christmas.  He was super excited about his toys, and he played with BB-8 until Maya got up closer to 7am.  She gave her doll a big hug and it was a fun morning.

I had the kids write all the gifts they got on a 4x6 Project Life card, and I inserted them here.  I thought it would be fun to remember their gifts and what age they were this year.
