January 1-15

I am finally getting to my bi-monthly pages. The layout for 2011 is going to be very similar to 2010. Using the 2-week approach really worked for me last year, and this template I've created is very flexible to how many pictures I have.

Maya has already pulled out my Switzerland book and Egypt book several times since we've been here. It does my heart good to see her looking at them. She asks questions and either states that she remembers or doesn't remember a particular place. I'm SO glad that I have this time of our lives documented for the kids.

I did it.

It's wild. My head still doesn't think this way yet, but I did try it. Drive on the left side of the road, I mean. Everything is pretty much opposite, fast lane and slow lanes are switched, blinker is on the right, and exits are on the left.

Dave is pretty much the designated driver, but he has a good month on me. haha
I drove to church Sunday morning, when we thought traffic would be at its lightest. I'd hate to drive in anything heavier. But Dave has safely navigated us to Chinatown and back twice.

Today on the way to the store at a red light Maya said, "Daddy, do you have a horn?" After he replied yes, she said, "then just honk and go." She apparently paid attention in Egypt, because that's exactly what Ibrahim would have done.

For me, I think I'll just steer clear of the Bentley and Ferrari that park in our apartment garage.

Happy Chinese New Year

a little late. I have really enjoyed the decorations that have been around town, but things are pretty much winding down now. Here are a couple videos, one of a lion dance and one of a dragon dance. Very cool.

Teaser

Just a quick post to say that I am here, just unplugged for awhile. I've been here one week already, and have so much to blog about, but I have no internet yet! It's painful! Currently I am in Starbucks using the free wifi. Anyway, I am loving it here so far. It is quickly becoming the favorite of all the places I have lived. There is so much shopping that it is mind-boggling! I have been to Chinatown, eaten Thai food, unpacked all but about ten boxes, had fish eat my feet, seen a lion dance, and eaten dragon fruit. That is just a little teaser so you'll keep checking back for more info!

Everyone speaks pretty good English and the American products are pretty plentiful, so life is good. Hopefully I will have Internet at home within the next week. Till then...

My Life...

is crazy, or is it just me?

Thanks to everyone who has called concerned or sent messages about me and my family's well-being. For those who aren't aware, we have moved out of Cairo, Egypt. Last month we packed our stuff and we now are looking back seeing what a blessing that has been in our lives. We feel the Lord's hand and love.

We still have many friends who are affected by the protests in Cairo. About sixteen members of the church are still there for various reasons, so continue to pray for their safety.

I won't post my opinion here, but I do have one. If you'd like it, call me. haha

In other news (is there other news? I've been watching FoxNews for 5 days straight), we now have our flight plans and we are leaving the country on Monday. Dave found us a place to live, and for the next ??? months we will be calling this "skyscraper sweet skyscraper."

We actually have a great location. The 18th floor of this building provides an excellent view of the Kuala Lumpur skyline and we are across the street from KLCC park and the Petronas towers. Should be another interesting year...

We'll keep ya posted.

Maya's Quote of the Day

To her Cinderella doll: "Cinderella, let me teach you to be big and powerful -- like a mom."

Hmmm.

Today one of my layouts was recognized again on the Club CK's Spotlight Blog. Check it out here.
